Lizzie Blandthorn MP – State Member for Pascoe Vale visits VICSEG New Futures to announces funding for new Family Violence Prevention program

VICSEG  The VICSEG strategy – Promoting Family and Community Safety – is a playgroup based response to the recommendations of the Victorian Government’s Royal Commission into Family Violence.  It uses the safe and friendly environment of the playgroup to actively engage with vulnerable women and children who have been exposed to family violence and provide them with the information and peer support that they need.  It also then provides a culturally sensitive referral pathway to other services available in the community.

The State Government Member for Pascoe Vale, the Hon Lizzie Blandthorn MP visited our Sydney Road, Coburg office on Friday, 26th August to announce the two year funding under the Victorian Government’s Capacity Building and Participation Program.  Ms Blandthorn is pictured with VICSEG New Futures Chairperson, Eva Wakim (second from right), Executive Director, John Zika (left) and Community Programs Manager, Janet Elefsiniotis (right).

VICSEG Cultural Playgroups – Promoting Family and Community Safety aims to increase the availability of culturally appropriate information and accessible supports for vulnerable women and children exposed to family violence.
