Last month we welcomed Aarthi Prakash to VICSEG New Futures as our Compliance Manager.  

Aarthi brings over two decades of experience in the vocational education and training (VET) sector and has worked across a range of roles from Course Coordinator to Training Manager. Throughout her career, she found her focus drawn to the space where regulation, quality and continuous improvement come together, ultimately leading her to specialise in compliance. 

“Compliance allows me to contribute to systems that protect learners, support staff, and uphold the credibility of the sector. Supporting organisations to meet regulatory requirements while delivering meaningful, learner‑centred outcomes is what I enjoy most about compliance,” Aarthi explains. 

Aarthi says VICSEG New Futures’ strong focus on community and culturally responsive education is what first stood out to her. “The organisation’s commitment to equity and supporting diverse learners aligns closely with my own values,” she says. “I was also drawn to the collaborative approach here — particularly the way compliance is seen as an enabler of quality outcomes rather than just a regulatory obligation.” 

Aarthi recognises that RTOs often face challenges, from keeping up with regulatory changes, to managing documentation consistently while also balancing day-to-day operations. A key part of Aarthi’s role is helping staff feel confident in understanding and meeting compliance requirements. Her aim is to create an environment where staff feel comfortable seeking clarification and understand how their work contributes to the organisation’s overall quality outcomes.  

“For me, the most important aspects are clear governance structures, strong documentation, and a culture where staff understand not just what is required, but why it matters. I focus on building strong relationships and providing guidance that is clear and accessible,” she explains. “That includes developing simple tools and resources, running training sessions, and being available for questions.” 

Outside of work, Aarthi enjoys spending time at the gym, watching movies, dancing, and taking time to recharge. She also shares a fun insight into her personality, “I love organising things — whether it’s processes at work or plans outside of it — which probably explains why compliance suits me so well!”
