Update on the Jobs Victoria Employment Program

The Jobs Victoria program continues to deliver successful outcomes for our participants. In the past 18 months, we have successfully placed 350 students into employment within the Health Care Sector, far surpassing the numbers initially allocated to us.

Under the terms of the contract with Jobs Victoria, we agreed to place 300 jobseekers from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds who were eligible for assistance to find ongoing and sustainable work. Through the monumental effort of the Aged Care Team, we achieved this number throughout 2017 until the present and even have a further 370 registered for assistance.

We have developed very strong links to a wide range of employers who support us in preparing participants for work and have shown their confidence in our training by employing our graduates. We are very appreciative of their support.

In the  Victorian Budget earlier this year, a further allocation of $21.9 million was made for employment projects supporting disadvantaged jobseekers and we are hopeful that going forward, we will be able to continue to bring employers and job seekers from recently arrived migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds together.
