Study Certificate IV in Youth Work, starting this November
We are thrilled to be launching our very first class in Youth Work at Coburg. VICSEG New Futures has a history of running a range of programs for young people, starting with the Active Young Africans Program in 1997. With the experience and expertise gained over this time, we are now stepping into the role of providing vocational training for those passionate about working in the youth sector.
The Certificate IV in Youth Work will develop your skills and knowledge to be able to support and empower young people. You will learn to plan, develop and facilitate a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.

You will graduate with practical skills and knowledge in:
- effective communication
case work - assessing youth at risk
- advocacy and empowerment
- community education and group activities
- legal and ethical frameworks
- workplace safety and first aid.
You will be trained to work in some of the following areas:
- Youth services including local government, and schools
- Support services including residential care, mental health, Drug and Alcohol services
- Outreach
- Youth Justice
- Housing support
With career options in some of the following roles:
- recreational youth activities worker
- community development worker (youth)
- indigenous youth worker
- youth justice worker
- residential care worker
- youth
case worker - youth alcohol and other drugs worker
- youth and family services worker
- youth housing support worker
- youth mental health worker
