VICSEG Awarded community grant for support to the Melton community


 VICSEG New Futures was awarded a grant of $9750 by Melton City Council to support the mentoring of Sudanese high school students in Melton.

Mentoring is a component of The Melton Sudanese Student Engagement Program which assists students stay in school and reach their greatest potential.

Twenty students from Catholic Regional College Melton, Kurunjang Secondary College, Lakeview Senior College, Melton Secondary College and Staughton Secondary College are involved in the program.

The grant supports partnerships with Victoria University and Youth Now. Placement students from Victoria University provide mentoring to the year 9-11 Sudanese students and Youth Now will support the mentors with specialist training.
