Welcome to New Futures Training

New Futures Training is the registered training organisation of VICSEG New Futures (Victorian Cooperative on Children’s Services for Ethnic Groups), a not-for-profit community service agency that has been funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments since the 1980s. This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding. We encourage individuals with disabilities to access our government subsidised training.

Our Aim

The aim of New Futures Training is to deliver quality training programs in a supportive environment that conforms with national training standards and meets the needs of our students and the related industries. 

Delivery Modes

New Futures Training offers the following delivery modes for training courses:

Classroom Delivery

Classes are held regularly in a number of suburbs including Coburg, Epping and Braybrook. Please come in to discuss which classes are right for you.

Flexible Delivery

New Futures Training is committed to delivering flexible training programs that cater to the cultural, employment, language and personal needs of our students. Students with disabilities, special needs are always welcome here. We encourage individuals with disabilities to access the government subsidised funding available to undertake our courses. New Futures Training recognises that students come to study with a range of educational backgrounds, learning styles, needs and vocational expectations. Distance (Correspondence) Delivery

Distance learning is a way of learning remotely by correspondence without being in regular face-to-face contact with a teacher in the classroom.
Materials and learning resources are sent to students via post or email and students must complete the set tasks according to the course schedule.
Students can study in their own time, at the place of their choice (home, work or learning centre).

  • A traineeship is a formal contract between an employer and an employee where the employee is trained on the job to learn the skills needed for a particular position. 

  • It combines formal training with New Futures Training with on the job training in order to achieve a qualification.

  • It combines structured training provided by New Futures Training with hands-on experience in the workplace.

For trainees: 

  • the opportunity to upgrade their qualification while earning


For employers: 

  • the opportunity to have staff trained on the job to your own specifications and convenience at NO EXTRA EXPENSE 

  • you may be eligible to receive incentives

Any employee is eligible for a traineeship, even those who are existing employees. This is a special case for childcare providers. However, the employer incentives vary depending on whether the trainee is part-time or full-time. Please refer to the Apprenticeships Matter insert for information about incentives.

As a not-for-profit organisation, New Futures Training does not charge tuition fees for its traineeship or SBAT programs. Eligible students may be entitled to participate in government subsidised training. To be eligible the trainee must:

  • be a permanent resident of Australia 

  • not hold an Australian recognised qualification that is higher than the traineeship course applied for

  • not have completed any funded course in the calendar year of enrolment

An RTO can only deliver qualifications that are in their scope of registration.
